Philosophy

Philosophy is the foundational academic discipline concerned with the pursuit of ultimate truths, rational inquiry, and the highest forms of knowledge. It is essential training that hones and refines the intellect's ability to reason well, serving as a prerequisite for understanding any subject. At its core, Philosophy encompasses Metaphysics (often called "First Philosophy"), which is considered the only universal science and the most important endeavor. Metaphysics deals with fundamental issues such as the first cause of things and the study of being itself and the principle of existence. This academic branch provides the rigor and methodology—including Logic, which is deemed the grammar of thought—necessary to achieve Philosophical Wisdom (Sophia), the highest intellectual virtue. Philosophy reveals a method of analysis to understand problems from the first principles, enabling students to address challenges at their very causative levels. Ultimately, the study of philosophy is crucial for the restoration of genuine Faith fortified with reason and genuine civilization. This discipline empowers individuals to understand the underlying metaphysical assumptions of all worldviews (including Western science and modern "isms") and make a conscious choice about their compatibility with one's own values and traditions.

First Principles

Achieving Philosophical Wisdom (Sophia): The primary intellectual objective is cultivating Philosophical Wisdom (Sophia), the highest intellectual virtue. This requires the wise person to grasp those first principles themselves.

Mastering Causative Analysis: Students will learn a method of analysis to understand problems from the first principles, utilizing Logic (the grammar of thought) to address challenges at their very causative levels.

Critique of Modern Worldviews: The course equips students to diagnose the root cause of the current crisis by identifying the materialistic metaphysical assumptions inherent in modern "isms" and Western science.
